While on a ride toward Ventura today I saw an older woman approaching me, going the opposite direction on the other side of the road. She had short gray hair, appeared to be in her late fifties and couldn't have been more than 5' 2". But she weighed about 185 lbs. She was riding a hybrid, had on a good quality helmet, sport shades, and a smile on her face. There were big rolls of fat everywhere, but she didn't care. She had on a heather gray ensemble: bike shorts, tank top and a little matching jacket tied around her waist. As she passed she gave me a broad smile and a smart, sharp nod of the head. I nodded and smiled back. She was confident and happy, not huffing and puffing, or self conscious. It would have been easy to hide, sit on the couch feeling old and making excuses. But not her. Fat be damned! She was on the bike and getting fit with the sun on her skin. I LOVE that! Whoever you are, you go Girl! See you on the road.
